John Beith

Age: 93
John W. Beith, of Lake Orion, passed away on April 4, 2015. He was 93.

Born on August 27, 1921, he was married to his beloved wife Alice Larraine Beith for 75 years.

Survived by his children John (Terri) Beith and William (Rhonda) Beith. Preceded in death by his daughter Joy Carter, son-in-law David Carter, daughter Jacqueline Beith, his parents William and Ethel Beith, 3 brothers and 2 sisters (who all originated from Pennsylvania).

John is also survived by grandchildren Beth (Wayne) Sutherby, Scott Carter, Shaun (Kelly) Carter, Robin Coomer, Shannon (Scott) Burns, Michael (Debbie) Beith, Cindy (Darrel) Crots, Lori (Lance) Olsen and Andy Beith; 21 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

John served in the United States Army during WWII and was a proud member of the VFW and American Legion Post 108.

He was the owner of Oxford Ceramic Tile for many years as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus and Christ the Redeemer Church in Lake Orion.

A funeral from Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors (39 W. Burdick) in Oxford was held on April 8. Father Joe Daily officiated and military honors followed at the conclusion of the service.

Jimmy R. Eldridge Jr.

Died: Friday, April 03, 2015
Age: 45
Jimmy R. Eldridge, Jr.; age 45 of Oxford, passed away April 3, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents Jimmy Eldridge and Peggy Fogarty. Jimmy was the loving husband of Robin (Smalley); father of Andrew, April (Mark) Rose of Virginia, and Nathan of Virginia; and grandfather of Ariana and William. He was the brother of Terrie (Sebastian) Rodriguez, Robert (Laura) and Adam; and stepson of Wayne and Lou Parsons and Ruth Thayer. He is also survived by three nephews, a niece and many cousins.

Jimmy was a former truck driver and loved to hunt and fish.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 15, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, Lake Orion. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family.

Jimmy Eldridge

Age: 45
Jimmy R. Eldridge, Jr., of Oxford, passed away on April 3, 2015. He was 45.

Eldridge was preceded in death by his parents Jimmy Eldridge and Peggy Fogarty.

He was the loving husband of Robin (Smalley) and father of Andrew, April (Mark) Rose, of Virginia, and Nathan, of Virginia.

GROSS, LARRY DALE of Brandon Twp, passed away peacefully April 2, 2015 at 72 years of age. Beloved husband of Kerry; devoted father of Michael (Melissa) Gross; loving grandfather of Haden; brother of Kathleen Patterson, Bud (Evangeline) Gross, Stuart Coleman, Barbara (Gary) Jones and the late Gracie Myers. Larry was a supervisor at General Motors at Pontiac Truck and Bus Division for 35 years. He was an avid golfer, hunter and a proud veteran of the United States Navy. Rebecca Jane McCrory

Died: Tuesday, March 31, 2015
Age: 83
Rebecca McCrory lifelong resident of Ortonville was born January 18, 1932 in Ortonville, Michigan to the late Ezra Harold and Hilda (nee: Green) Hummer. She is survived by four children, Virginia England, Mary Oscendosky, Susan McCrory and William “Bud” McCrory; one brother, Duane (Connie) Hummer; 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; preceded in death by her beloved husband, William “Gale” McCrory, one son, Leslie McCrory and one brother, Stewart Hummer. Jane was a longtime newspaper carrier for the Oakland Press. She enjoyed bingo, cards and the many activities at the Edna Burton Senior Center. Funeral service will be Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at COATS VILLAGE FUNERAL HOME-ORTONVILLE. Interment will follow at Seymour Lake Cemetery. John C. Willhite

Died: Monday, March 30, 2015
Age: 59
John C. Willhite of Clarkston, suddenly March 30, 2015 at 59 years of age.

He was loving husband of Debbie for 40 years; dear father of Kristen (Dustin) Willhite-Rose and Joshua Willhite. He is preceded in death by his granddaughter Airyanna and siblings Lowell “Sonny”, Michael, and Cynthia.

John retired from GM in 2006 after 28 years of service. He was a member of Local 5960, as well as alternate committee man. John was a big car enthusiast, he loved to race cars, paint cars, and build cars. Most important John had a big heart; a good man who was kind and caring. James E. Hampton

Age: 93
James E. Hampton of Bloomfield Hills passed away on March 30, 2015, at age 93.

He was beloved husband of Elizabeth Ann (Kalahar) for 64 years. He was the proud father of Robert and his wife Lori, Michael, Patricia Hampton Scott, David and his wife Suzanne, John and his wife Julia, William and his wife Patricia; grandfather of Scott (Heidi) Hampton, Daniel Hampton, Rebecca (Thomas) Harrison, Katherine Hampton, James Hampton, Ryan Scott, Alexa Hampton, Anna Hampton, Audrey Hampton, Derek Soldenski, Heather Stochi and Holly Tracy.

James was born in Steubenville, Ohio on October 23, 1921. He graduated from Detroit’s Cooley High School in 1939.

He served in the European Theater during World War II where he was awarded a battlefield commission and a Bronze Star with an Oakleaf Cluster earning the rank of First Lieutenant before being honorably discharged after the war and post war occupation.

He earned a Civil Engineering degree from the University of Detroit. He was employed by the Detroit District Office of the Corps of Engineers in which he was responsible for the construction of several Airfield Paving Projects during the Korean War. Subsequent to this work, he was a co-founder of Michigan Testing Engineers and other engineering consulting firms in the Detroit Area. He was a registered Professional Engineer in Michigan and many other states, specializing in Pavement Design and Construction Supervision.

An avid golfer, he was a member of Oakland Hills Country Club for over 30 years and served as club President in 1986.

Memorial Service is 10 a.m,, Friday, April 3, 2015 at the Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral, Clarkston where friends may visit Friday 9 am until time of the service. Pickering, Dawn Marie (Oates); of Shelby Twp. was born March 20,1967 and passed away March 29,2015.Dawn was the beloved daughter of Connie (Georgia) Oates and the late Sandra Oates; loving sister of Kelley, John (Penny), Nickie, Heidi; and step sister of Erik and Jeff.
