Janette Elizabeth Sheardy

Died: Saturday, June 27, 2015
Age: 95
Janette Elizabeth Sheardy (nee Pryne), age 95, passed away peacefully in blessed assurance on Saturday, June 27, 2015 with her family around her. Jane is survived by her eldest son Robert Jr., her daughter Susan Dee, her younger sons, Richard Dean (Joanne) and Peter Jeffrey (Kelly) Sheardy; grand children, Timothy Peter (Carmela) Trimble and Tobias Steven Trimble, Allison Grace Sheardy and Alex Thomas Sheardy and great grandson Antonio Robert Trmible and several special nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and friends. Jane was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Ione Young; best friend, Ila Braid; special niece and nephew, Patti Sampier and James A. Sheardy, and her husband Bob.

“Don’t worry. It will come from someplace.” That was Jane's philosophy. And, it nearly always did: lunch money, the new bicycle, college tuition. Her children grew up as wide-eyed optimists. It accounts for her nearly perennial smile, her undying faith, both spiritually and personally, her longevity.

Janette Elizabeth Pryne, Janie Beth to her family, was born to Ira and Nelly (Voorheis) Pryne on a farm in Hadley Michigan on April 21, 1920. She grew up in the Lake Orion area and graduated with honors from Lake Orion High School. It was there, during a basketball game, she met Robert Sheardy – on a dare from her girlfriend. They were married by his father Arthur, a Justice of the Peace on November 26, 1939. Her sister Ione and his brother Harry stood up with them. Their marriage endured nearly seventy years. Bob died on March 1, 2009.

Bob and Jane’s first son, Bob Jr. was born while Bob Sr. was in the South Pacific and their daughter Susan shortly after his return. Richard was born a few years later. The growing family moved out of the Sheardy house to a small home of their own in the early fifties.

The family travelled a lot together and loved outdoor activities. Jane became active as a grade school housemother, cub-scout and girl-scout leader, and Sunday school teacher. She was also busily involved with the Order of Eastern Star, the PTA, and various women’s organizations. She loved sewing and made a lot of both hers and her children’s clothes, including Halloween cos
