Age: 70
Tencza, Daniel Patrick, Age 70 of Lake Orion; passed away February 3, 2014. Loving husband of Elaine for 32 years. Dear father of Ken, David, Donald, and Ravena (Mark). Grandfather of Mark Jr. Also survived by his dog buddy “Phoenix.”

Daniel worked 47 years for GM as skilled trades machine repair. Taking care of his family was the most important thing to him. He was very good hearted and loved spending time up north at his cabin where he could enjoy the water.

CURRY, DANIEL J., of Clarkston, died February 2, 2014 at 79 years of age. Beloved husband of the late Joan; loving father of Brian (Barb) Curry and Dawn (Darrell) Blakesley; dearest grandfather of Joshua (Johnna), Jacob and Lucas. Also survived by his brother John (Sally), sisters Sally and Mary Ellen, many in laws, nieces and nephews. Daniel retired from Pontiac Motors after 42 years of faithful service. Elizabeth R. Gitter, of Oxford, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014. She was 83.

Beloved wife of Richard. Dear mother of Joseph (Linda) Gitter, Theodore (Nancy) Gitter, Thomas (the late Karen) Gitter, Carol (Ken) Casolari, Diane (Tom) Mueller and the late Andrew Gitter. Dear mother in law of Brenda Gitter. Loving grandmother of 20 grandchildren. Dear sister of Anna Coburn.

Friends may call at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Rd. (3 blks. E. of Van Dyke) Utica on Wednesday, Feb. 5 from 3-9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church (44633 Utica Rd.) in Utica where she will lie in state from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 10 a.m.

John Ellis

Age: 78
John Ellis, of Oxford, passed away peacefully at his home which he shared with Linda Mika on Sunday February 2, 2014. He was 78.

He is survived by his daughters Cheryl (Rick) Feldmann and Mary (Jerry) Newland; his sisters Evelyn Brooks, Margaret Mann and Martha Britht; and brother Larry Ellis; 4 grandchildren; Charles and Craig Feldmann, Ben and Kelly Harrison and 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Jessie (nee: Silva), parents, Hazzie and Margaree Ellis and his siblings Terry, Winston, Merlene and Agnes.

John retired from General Motors after 25 years and Oxford Parks and Recreation after 10 years of service.

A funeral from Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors in Oxford was held Feb. 8. Interment at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Oakwood.

Vera Wood went to be with the Lord on February 2, 2014. She was 95.

She is survived by her five children; Claudia (Charles) Dotson, Joyce (Jerry) Piceu, Bryce (Robin) Wood, Marilyn (Larry) Baird and Gary (Cindy) Wood. Also 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband Claude Wood.

Leary Q. Wood

Leary Q. Wood of Fenton formerly of Ortonville was born Sept. 16, 1927 in Wilson’s Mills, N. Carolina to the late Columbus C. and Martha (nee: Boyd) Wood. He married the former Eaine Landrum on September 8, 1950 in Rossville, GA. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Elaine Wood; one son, L. Scott Wood; two granddaughters, Darcy (Patrick) Martin and Angela (Landon) Bryant; six great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Sydney, Lucas, Meredith, Lilly and Logan; he was preceded in death by one daughter, Peggy Sue Wood.; Leary was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, WWII and retired from G.M. after 34 years. He was a member of the Ortonville United Methodist Church, charter member of the Ortonville Lions Club and the Ortonville Jaycees He also formerly served on the Brandon Twp. Fire Board and Brandon School Board for 10 years. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at COATS VILLAGE FUNERAL HOME, ORTONVILLE. Sandra Troutwine

Age: 69
Sandra K. Troutwine, of Lapeer and formerly of Oxford, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2014. She was 69.

She was the devoted mother of Kay L. Troutwine and William S. (Sabrena Inda) Troutwine; former wife and dear friend of the late Sam Troutwine; cherished grandmother of Tyler, Jathan, Brelyn, Bryleigh, and Stone. Dear sister of Debbie Alvarez (Jose’) and Tim Rochon (Donna Durrance); the loving godmother of Lynette Furneaux, and her husband Frederick. She was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.

Ms. Troutwine was an Assistant Manager of Retail Underwriting at Flagstar Bank Corporate Headquarters and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

A funeral Mass will be held Friday, February 7, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church (715 North Lapeer Road) in Lake Orion.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Feb. 6 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the RIVERSIDE CHAPEL, Simpson-Modetz Funeral Home, 5630 Pontiac Lake Rd. in Waterford, and at the church on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Eugene Ward

Died: Thursday, January 30, 2014
Age: 90
Eugene A. Ward, of Oxford, died January 30, 2014. He was 90.

He was the loving husband of Eva (Stephens) Ward for 61 years. Gene graduated from Oxford High in 1942, served his country during World War II in the South Pacific, graduated from Michigan State College in 1951 and retired from General Motors after 35 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 108.

Besides his wife Eva, Gene is survived by their three children: Steve (Kathie) Ward, Ann (Hugh) Schulkins, and Alan Ward. He is Grandfather of Sarah, Beka, Hilary, Emily, and Ashley, as well as Great Grandfather of Morgan Eve and another to be born in March. Additional survivors include sisters-in-law Dot Young, Delores Ward, and Yvonne Ward. Eugene was pre-deceased by his parents, William and Venus Ward-Clack (Lee) and brothers Dean, Don, Ken and sister Virginia Murthum.

A funeral from Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors in Oxford was held Feb. 4. Interment Oxford Township Cemetery.
