Mildred Burcham

Burcham, Mildred "Kelley”; April 19, 1934 - April 20, 2015. Kelley, who was loved by so many, passed peacefully in the presence of her loving family. Everyone knew her for her wonderful wit, sense of humor, and her love of family and friends. Kelley had many passions, her first spending time with her family and friends, playing tennis and always playing the odds. She was a caring person who loved her job working the Emergency Room at Crittenton Hospital for 32 years. She is survived by her loving husband Harley Joe Burcham; their sons Larry (Ellavon) Burcham, Gary (Roma) Burcham, Carl (Laurie) Burcham; and daughter Diane (Joe) Tomakowski. Shirley Loretta Quick

Age: 95
Shirly Quick of North Branch formerly of Ortonville was born March 26, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Paul and Viola (nee: Wheeler) Bindig. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Jean (Charles) Cole and Sharon Ann (the late Tom) Rexford; seven grandchildren, Tom (Annette) McLeod, Tonya (Mike) Dhooghe, Julie Morefield, Keith (Sabrina) Quick, Mike (Laura) Rexford, Tom (Rachel) Rexford and Matt (Paula) Rexford; also survived by 21 great grandchildren and many great great grandchildren; she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Howard R. Quick and six brothers and sisters. Shirley was a former member of the Ortonville Baptist Church. Private services were held. Michael Potvin of Ortonville Born October 3, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Lionel and Hazel (nee: Rollinson) Potvin. He is survived by five children, Michael (Kathy) Potvin, Amy (Chris) Cosner, Michelle (Scott) Lawler, Jeffrey Potvin and Jeremiah (April Sarasin) Potvin; five grandchildren, Lauren Bensett, Jacob, Sarah and Rachel Williams and Lucas Potvin. Michael formerly owned and operatered the M-15 Party Store, Ortonville. Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2015 at COATS VILLAGE FUNERAL HOME-ORTONVILLE. EIBERGEN, BERNARD A., of Clarkston, died April 17, 2015 at 96 years of age. Beloved husband for 54 years of Mary Eibergen. Dear father of B. Patrick, Robert, Kathleen Fortin, Thomas, William (Deborah), the late Michael and the late Jon Eibergen. Grandfather of 6 and great grandfather of 6. Dear brother of the late Leola and the late Marie. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Eibergen was a veteran of the US Army, serving in the South Pacific during WWII. He worked many years for Doctors Endress and Crum, then AROC and also the Clarkston Medical Group. Marsha Olrich

Age: 82
Marsha Kay Olrich, of Oxford, died peacefully at St. Joseph’s hospital in Pontiac on April 15, 2015 after a long illness. She was 82.

Marsha Kay Van Alstine was born to Lyman Warner Van Alstine and Lucille Marie VanAlstine in Byron, Michigan on December 2, 1932.

She graduated from Byron Agricultural High School in 1950 where she received letters in basketball and cheerleading and served as her senior class Treasurer.

She and her family enjoyed spending time at their cabin at the Hiawatha Club in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, developing a love for the area she passed on to her friends and family. Marsha married Gerald C. Olrich (Jerry), her high school sweetheart in Byron on July 14, 1951 after completing two years of studies at Michigan State College (now Michigan State University).

Marsha and Jerry moved to Oxford, Michigan in 1953, where they developed many wonderful long lasting friendships, ultimately enjoying over 50 years of marriage. Marsha was a great hostess and entertained regularly for their friends and family. 

Marsha is survived by her three daughters, Dianne Offer (Tom Offer), Denise Olrich and Devona Wassil (Mike Wassil), as well as four grandchildren, Tim Offer (Ann Offer), Ben Offer, Christine Leahy and Julia Welch, and two great grandchildren, Alivia Offer and Abigail Offer. She was predeceased by her husband Jerry and granddaughter Jessica Leahy. 

Marsha was a wonderful mother and homemaker. Her skill with a needle and thread was unsurpassed and she made clothing not only for herself, but for her three daughters throughout their school years.

She later worked with Jerry at their business, the Oxford Lumber Company, located on Mill St. and later on Burdick Street in Oxford, Michigan.

 Marsha loved to travel, and she and Jerry enjoyed many trips, not only all around the USA but around the world, including travels to China, Russia, throughout Europe and golfing trips to the Bahamas and Scotland. She kept her camera in hand and loved to photograph the places and people she met all over the world.

She was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing in a number of golf leagues as well as playing during her travels over the years.

A private graveside ceremony was held at Ridgelawn Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted toLynch & Sons Funeral Directors.

CHUNOVICH, Larry W.; of Clarkston; April 14, 2015; age 72; survived by his loving wife Keitha; daughters Julie (Jim) Finch and Janel (Todd) Drysdale; grandfather of Kailey, Keegan, Mackenzie, Kelsey and Quinn; also survived by brothers Ron (Carla), Doug (Kathy) and sister Jody (Harvy) Berman; step mother Carol and step brother Michael (Elaine) Gearhart; preceded in death by his parents Walter and Lorraine and brother Keith. Larry also leaves behind many, many friends. Larry devoted his life to education. He began teaching math in Homer, Michigan in 1964. In 1966, he moved to Southfield continuing teaching at Southfield and Southfield-Lathrup High Schools where he was also Chairman of the Math Department. He was active in his professional organizations serving as President of the Southfield and Michigan Education Associations. He was a member of the Michigan and National Councils of Teachers of Mathematics. Larry served on the boards of the Michigan Education Special Services Association and the MEA Financial Services Association. He was the first non-Dentist elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of Delta Dental Plan of Michigan. In 1986, Larry was appointed to the Oakland University Board of Trustees by former Governor James Blanchard. Friends may visit Thursday 5-9 pm and Friday 3-9 pm at the Lewis E. Virginia Berak

Died: Tuesday, April 14, 2015
Age: 92
Sister Virginia Berak passed away on April 14, 2015 at Lourdes Nursing Home in Waterford. She was 92.

She was born in Nove Mesto Nad Vahom, Slovakia on August 15, 1922 to the late Joseph and the late Susan Berak (nee Novak).

Sister Berak graduated from the Felician Academy in June of 1940. She then went on to attend Siena Heights College, earning both her Bachelor's degree (1953) and later her Master's degree in 1965.

Sister Berak was a teacher serving Michigan for many years. She started her teaching career at Holy Trinity School in Ironwood from 1963 - 1969. She then became the Principal of St. Vincent Ferrer in Madison Heights. She held this position from 1969 - 1978. In 1979, she became the principal of Holy Rosary School in Flint and served here until 1992. In 1996 she was installed as the Director for Fox Manor on the Lourdes Campus in Waterford.

Sister Berak is survived by her nieces: Patty Berak, Virginia Berak, Lorraine Berak, Sue Skoda and Ann Hanna; and by nephews: Richard Berak, Steve Berak, Steve Skoda and Dan Skoda. She is also survived by her community, The Dominican Sisters of Peace and a special friend Lillian Berak. She was preceded in death by her brothers: Joseph and Stephen, a sister Ann Skoda and a nephew Joe.

Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated Friday, April 17, 2015 11:00 am at the Dominican Sisters Motherhouse in Oxford. Burial was at Our Lady of Sorrow Cemetery on the grounds of the Motherhouse.

Harold Earp

Died: Monday, April 13, 2015
Age: 76
Harold “Pete” Earp; of Parker, CO; died at 76 years of age on April 13, 2015. He was born on July 8, 1938 in Oxford, MI. Loving father of Paula (Hume) Miller, Perry (Aimee) Earp; grandfather of two grandsons, Dylan and Greyson.

Proceeded in death by his sister Lorreta“Corky” Hallead, parents Francis “Perry” &Wenoma“Winnie” Earp.

Pete retired from Bloomfield Township Police Department after 31 years of service and went on to spend time working at Kingsbury Country Day School and Goodrich Area Schools. Pete enjoyed various types of handyman projects, grilling/cooking, fishing, & spending time with his family.

Short memorial service followed by family receiving friends at a luncheon on May 2, 2015. Both service and luncheon to take place at Italia Gardens in Oxfordbeginning at 12:00PM.
